A Day at the Show

Inspired by a photograph of the opening ceremony of the inaugural Gidgegannup Show, "A Day at the Show" celebrates 80 years of community involvement in an enduring annual celebration of rural life.  Hard work behind the scenes creates a festive day out filled with treats, animals, local produce, crafts and entertainment. A personal childhood memory includes my mother making C.W.A. "showbags" for fundraising.   Using assemblage, etching and metalwork, this piece evokes the end of another memorable showday, as the cleanup begins in preparation for another year.
