Yesterday’s Tomorrow by John Dakin
My work explores the beauty and character found in discarded materials. This sculpture is created from unwanted metal and found objects, inspired by the machinery, tools and hardworking spirit of the 1940s. The circular forms and weathered surfaces suggest the passage of time, while the figure brings a sense of humour and personality to objects once used for practical purposes.
1940s to Now represents the journey from a resourceful, reuse-focused past to today's growing awareness of sustainability. It is a celebration of our history, our ingenuity, and our continuing journey into the future.
